Was after a fixture away to f.c. Castille . .?correct me if I'm wrong butvi think we were rascalish over there?

I was 14 when I went to the home DT game.... still stuff that happened that night is as vivid today as it was all those years ago.... absolute mustard.... and that Sweeper .... what would he be worth now.... an absolute joy to watch... regarding gobbing ... don't remember it but we (dad, Uncle and Cuzz) was up in the Gods... I do remember plenty of people standing up and applauding the DT team off mind you...

Memories of the away leg are: Flew to Moscow - freezing cold - people just as frosty apart from a prostitute I snogged in the hotel. Tbilisi - lovely and warm. People equally warm - wanting to give us a lift a few hundred yards just to say they'd been with us. No prostitutes. The game? Can't remember it apart from Stuart Pearson's goal.

I applauded, too.

But, at the back of my mind I was thinking I'd never do this for domestic rivals, no matter how good they were.

I really can't understand why some people have such a problem with what I've said.
Yes, there was an admirable display of magnanimity from many West Ham fans that night, but it wasn't unanimous.

In fact, I didn't participate in the ovation. I was far too gutted at the result.
Nor was I spitting at anyone. There is a middle ground.

Probably the only West Ham fan there I hired a coppers uniform from the fancy dress shop http://www.carnivalstore.co.uk/product/policeman-9552/
and to my amazement just walked straight in, kept a low profile up the back of the chicken run but clapped with others for all the goals, surreal.

I still think if Lyall had had a chance to see them play before the game - the Russian league was on its winter break - the result may have been closer.

Me and a mate had already booked and paid for the return leg before the home game and as the goals we going in we just thought 'what the fuk!'
Snowed in in Moscow for a night, I read somewhere that Lyall had to bollock UEFA to sort it out as the Russians were playing games. Boiling hot in Tiblisi - met by TV cameras at the airport and a standing ovation as we took our seats. Drank the hotel dry.

If you look closely at the goal scored on the youtube clip down the South Bank end you can see a kid in the front row gob at a player and a copper appears to be legging it to nick the little sod

Life is complicated.

Even antly can't be wrong all the time.

If 0.1% of the crowd wasn't in admiration of the Tblisi side, and he was where this 0.1% were concentrated, then his account could easily be true.

I was at the Tblisi home game standing in the west lower it was odd to see their players getting a standing ovation I'd never witnessed anything like that before or since.
Remember a few of our lot with Tblisi scarves who had gone to the away fixture.i don't know how many made that journey but it must have been a beast of a journey back then when it was ruled by Russia and almost a no go zone to Westerners let alone a bunch of Herbert's from east London(I'm saying that a bit tongue in cheek)must be a few on here that made the journey I'd be interested to hear their account of it.

His name was provided by someone (Agent R) who saw the incident in a report to the Soviets and he was placed on a ‘To be Novichok-ed’ list.

Presumably you dispute my account of a number of kids who took the opportunity to spit on the Tbilisi players celebrating a goal in front of the South Bank.

I was there, and saw it with my own eyes. You should bear in mind that the fact that YOU didn't see something happen, does not mean that it did not happen.

In fact, as well as three of my brothers, I was there with a cousin who isn't that interested in football, but came along for the sake of something to do.
He was always a bit of a hoodlum, and when he saw the gobbing taking place, he shouted "OH YES!", and rushed to the front to add his 'contribution'. He was in his element.

I was on the south bank that night of the Tibilisi rout. Nowadays if we were on the wrong end of a football lesson like that by the end of the game the ground would be less than half empty. That night the Boleyn was still packed at the final whistle, and yes, they got a standing ovation from all parts of the ground.

The Tibilisi players looked astonished at getting such an ovation and lined up to take a bow. Made me quite proud to be a West Ham supporter despite such a trouncing.

I remember listening to the game on LBC, very eerie.

That Tblisi side were great to watch,even as they took us apart. Was a strange feeling after the game,knowing we had been battered but having seen something very special in the process.

What I do vividly recall is going home on the tube having a sense of pride watching that team. Didn't affect me that we lost, sometimes you just have to hold up your hand and admit the opposition were better than you
